Welcome to the weekly newsletter, where I share my musings on world events. I’ll also use this to identify those deserving of our collective side-eye. I’ll share thought-provoking online gems or things that make me laugh (because we need both). And sometimes, I may include personal nonsense. I hope this brightens your week and makes you think.

The Arizona Supreme Court allowed a law from 1864 to ban abortion unless the death of the mother is imminent. There are no exceptions for rape or incest, and it makes performing an abortion punishable by imprisonment for two to five years. (The law also set the age of consent to 10 years old.) To put the archaic law into context, it was passed during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln was president, Arizona was not yet a state, and only white men could vote. Talk about creepy… A French woman’s blood-drained body was found in an abandoned church in Italy. She had been looking for a haunted house believed to contain ghosts.
A murderer died. In memory of Nicole Brown Simpson: “You won’t ever know the worst that happened to Nicole Brown Simpson in her marriage, because she is dead and cannot tell you. And if she were alive, remember, you wouldn’t believe her.”
